Two Harts Retreats · Est. 2024
We design small-group retreats that go beyond sightseeing — immersive experiences that connect you with the world, with locals, and with yourself. Led by Sarah Hart, photographer and travel lover, from Nashville to every corner of the globe.
Who we are
Two Harts Retreats was born from a simple belief: that the best travel experiences are intimate, intentional, and transformative. We keep our groups small so every person feels seen, supported, and fully present.
From yoga on Nicaragua's Pacific coast to pony trekking through the mountains of Lesotho, we curate experiences that go beyond the guidebook and bring them to life for you.
Every location is chosen for its depth of culture, natural beauty, and the quality of experience it can offer a small group of travelers.
Our groups are intentionally small. You'll leave with friendships, not just memories, and a deeper understanding of the world.
We partner with local guides, stay in locally-owned accommodation where possible, and design trips that respect and give back to each community.

Six days of yoga, adventure, and new friends on one of Central America's most beautiful coastlines.
Playa Maderas is one of Nicaragua's best-kept secrets, a world-class surf break surrounded by jungle, with a laid-back energy that immediately slows you down. This is where we've chosen to gather for six transformative days of movement, connection, and adventure.
We've partnered with @yogawithkatharine, whose soulful, grounding practice will be the heartbeat of each morning. Whether you're an experienced yogi or brand new to the mat, Katharine's classes meet you exactly where you are, two times daily.
The rest of the day belongs to adventure, rest, or whatever is calling your name - surf lessons, hiking, exploring new towns, boat day adventures, hanging by the pool and so much more. Evenings are for good food, great views, and the kind of meaningful conversations that only happen when you unplug from ordinary life.
You'll be staying at a private clifftop villa on the edge of Playa Maderas, one of Nicaragua's most spectacular surf breaks. The property has an infinity pool that appears to merge with the Pacific Ocean, a bamboo yoga shala with open ocean views, and hammocks strung throughout the jungle gardens. It's the kind of place that makes you forget what day it is.
You have the choice of a variety of shared rooms, or a solo room. Individual rooms are very limited and are first come, first served.
The bamboo yoga shala sits at the cliff's edge, open on all sides to the Pacific breeze, with the ocean as your horizon and the sounds of waves as your soundtrack. Morning sessions catch the golden light. Evening practice ends as the sun drops into the sea. The beach itself may also be one of our yoga locations.

Your Guide on the Mat
@yogawithkatharine
Katharine is a Nashville-based yoga teacher whose practice focuses on connecting with yourself and gaining mobility in a day and age where we spend so much time sitting. Her classes are grounding, creative, and accessible to all levels — whether you've been practicing for years or stepping onto the mat for the first time.
On this retreat Katharine will lead yoga classes twice a day tailored specifically to the group. These are designed to open your body, clear your mind, and allow you to spend the week reconnecting with yourself.
What to expect

Two yoga sessions daily tailored to all levels.
Learn to ride Pacific waves at Playa Maderas, one of Nicaragua's premier surf beaches.
Explore the beautiful town of San Juan Del Sur, hike to Cristo de la Misericordia, stroll through the local boutiques, and enjoy local dining.
Spend the day on the ocean for dolphin watching, swimming in a private bay, and a beach picnic.
Enjoy daily breakfasts and multiple lunches and dinners cooked by locals right where we're staying.
Come alone or with a friend. Either way, you'll be leaving this week with a group of new friends.
Airport transfers, settle in your casita, and enjoy a welcome dinner as you get to know the group of women you'll be spending the week with.
Begin the day with Katharine's sunrise flow, then hit the waves for your first guided surf lesson. Afternoon free for rest or exploration. End the evening with another yoga session.
Morning yoga, then a guided hike to Cristo de la Misericordia. Spend the rest of the day exploring the "Tulum of Nicaragua," San Juan del Sur. Pop in and out of boutiques, enjoy local restaurants, and end the day with a sunset yoga session.
Start your day with morning yoga, and then head to our chartered boat to search for dolphins, head to a private bay to swim, and enjoy a picnic on the beach. Enjoy a relaxing evening yoga session after a fun day in the sun.
We'll keep our flow of our two daily yoga sessions, have time to explore the local beach restaurants in walking distance from our casitas, enjoy a private group salsa lesson overlooking the ocean, and end the day with a closing dinner and bonfire.
It's time for goodbyes. We'll enjoy one last breakfast before heading out to the airport with a heart full of memories and a new family of friends.
Note: This is a sample itinerary and is subject to change based on availability and weather. You are not required to participate in anything you don't want to — the pools and beach are always available for you to enjoy at your leisure.
Co-Ed Adventure · Presale Opens Soon
Pony trek through the roof of Africa — an off-the-beaten-path adventure in the Mountain Kingdom few travelers ever discover.
Lesotho is one of Africa's most extraordinary secrets. Entirely surrounded by South Africa and sitting at altitudes above 3,000 meters, this small mountain kingdom — known as the "Roof of Africa" — is a world apart. There are no big game reserves, no tourist hordes. Just dramatic highland landscapes, ancient Basotho culture, and an authenticity that is increasingly rare on the African continent.
Our Africa Unplugged trip begins in Maseru, Lesotho's mountain capital, before we wind our way through breathtaking highland scenery to the Malealea Valley — a remote, red-earthed corner of the country where the mountains feel endless and the modern world feels very far away. From there, we spend four days on Basotho ponies, traversing mountain passes, fording rivers, and riding through villages that see almost no outside visitors.
This is not a glamping trip. On trek, we sleep on mattresses on the floors of traditional Basotho huts, use long-drop pit toilets, and eat simple, hearty meals prepared over a gas cooker. It is raw, real, and unlike anything else we offer — and it is one of the most meaningful experiences you will ever have. No riding experience needed. Just an open heart and a genuine spirit of adventure.
Lesotho is one of the most visually dramatic places on Earth. Perched entirely above 1,400 meters, its highlands stretch in every direction — ochre soil, vast skies, sandstone canyons, and mountain ranges that seem to go on forever. There is nowhere quite like it on the African continent.
The Basotho pony is the soul of Lesotho. Centuries-adapted to steep, rocky mountain terrain, these sure-footed horses carry you through landscapes no road can reach — fording rivers, climbing scree slopes, and descending into gorges that open up into some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of Africa. No riding experience is necessary. Your pony knows the way.
What makes Lesotho unforgettable isn't just the landscape — it's the people. The Basotho are among the warmest, most welcoming communities in southern Africa. Staying in villages, sharing meals cooked over open fires, and hearing stories from local guides is what separates this trip from anything else we offer.

Spend four days on horseback traversing mountain passes, riding past ancient rock art, and following canyon trails to dramatic highland waterfalls — all on the legendary Basotho pony. No riding experience required.
Dramatic scenery unlike anywhere else in Africa — towering sandstone cliffs, ochre-red valleys, river crossings, and a sky so vast it resets something in you.
Sleep on mattresses on the floor of traditional Basotho huts in remote mountain villages. Long-drop toilets, buckets of spring water, and a gas cooker — genuinely rustic, genuinely unforgettable.
Ride to cave paintings in the Pitseng Gorge — approximately 1,000 years old — depicting hunting scenes and the daily life of the San people who once called these mountains home.
Blanket-clad shepherds, children calling out greetings from the hillside, traditional music by campfire — the Basotho people are among the warmest communities in all of Africa.
At over 2,000 meters with zero light pollution, Lesotho's night sky is extraordinary. Fall asleep under more stars than you've ever seen in your life.
Fly into Moshoeshoe I International Airport and settle into our accommodation in Maseru. Meet the group over a welcome dinner and get a first taste of Lesotho's warmth before the adventure begins.
We make our way from Maseru through dramatic highland scenery, cresting the famous "Gates of Paradise" pass before descending into the breathtaking Malealea Valley. Settle into our lodge, meet your Basotho guides, and get a full briefing on the four-day trek ahead.
Saddle up and head out. Your sure-footed Basotho pony carries you over mountain passes and through remote valleys, past shepherds and grazing livestock. Arrive at your first Basotho village hut as the sun sets — dinner cooked over a gas cooker, sleeping on mattresses on the floor. Rustic, real, and remarkable.
Ride to the Pitseng Gorge to see ancient San Bushman paintings — approximately 1,000 years old. Continue deeper into the highlands, crossing rivers and traversing clifftop canyon trails. Another night in a traditional village hut under a sky full of stars.
Trek to a dramatic highland waterfall tucked into the canyon landscape. Spend your last night on the trail in a traditional hut, sharing stories with your guides around the fire before the long ride back tomorrow.
Ride back to the Malealea Valley, say farewell to your pony, and gather for a celebration dinner with your guides and fellow travelers. An evening of traditional Basotho music, good food, and the particular joy of having done something genuinely hard and genuinely worth it.
Transfer back to Maseru for international departures, or extend your journey into South Africa.
Women Only · Presale Opens Soon
Seven days in one of the world's most extraordinary cities — adventure, culture, coastline, and cuisine, shared with a small circle of remarkable women.
Cape Town is in Sarah Hart's blood. She has spent significant time living and working there and knows its hidden corners the way only a local can. This trip is the culmination of that love — a deeply personal, expertly curated journey through a city unlike any other on Earth.
Over seven days we'll drive Chapman's Peak, see wild African penguins at Boulders Beach, catch waves with a surf instructor, hike Table Mountain, wander the colorful streets of Bo-Kaap, ride the Franschhoek Wine Tram through the Cape Winelands, and end with a luxury beach picnic on one of the world's most beautiful coastlines. For those who want more, an optional safari add-on awaits at the end of the week.
This is not a standard tourist itinerary. We have access to people, places, and experiences that simply aren't available on the open market. That's the Two Harts difference.

Guest Stories
Nothing we write about ourselves means as much as what our guests share. These are their words — unfiltered, unedited, and from the heart.
"My goal has always been to help others discover inspiring destinations and travel with intention — not just check off a list. Two Harts Retreats is where that mission found its fullest expression: small, carefully curated groups, destinations chosen for their depth, and experiences designed to open you up rather than simply pass time."
"I entered the retreat thinking of myself solely as a videographer, and I ended the retreat confidently identifying as a professional photographer. Culturally enriching, impactful, awe-striking, growth-oriented, motivating, FUN — words simply don't suffice. I came to this retreat intending to tell powerful stories about other people; little did I know I would soon be a character myself. Sign me up for the next one!"
"If you've thought about traveling but don't know where to start, Two Harts Retreats is 100% for you. Months after the retreat I still think about the care and detail that was put into the housing, transportation, and even the meals. I can honestly say this was the first of many retreats with Two Harts."

The story
I'm a passionate traveler who has explored over 25 countries and 30 US states in search of unique places, beautiful moments, and experiences that leave a mark. Whether it's hiking remote mountain passes, wandering through ancient cities, or catching a Pacific sunrise from a jungle hammock — I'm always chasing the kind of travel that changes you.
My goal has always been to help others discover inspiring destinations and travel with intention — not just check off a list. Two Harts Retreats is where that mission found its fullest expression: small, carefully curated groups, destinations chosen for their depth, and experiences designed to open you up rather than simply pass time.
I'm based in Nashville and travel constantly alongside my husband Hunter — a talented photographer whose lens has followed us across five continents — and our baby daughter, who is already accumulating quite the passport. We believe adventure doesn't have to stop when life shifts. We're proving it one trip at a time.
